All hail the King

He is no true independent. That’s what he wants Mainers to think because we seem to have an affinity for someone who does not claim party affiliation. However, let’s take a look at the facts.  In 2011-2012 Angus King donated $6,000 to the DNC and gave $16,000 to the Obama Victory Fund and Obama for America. True, he can give to anyone he wants, but why not give the same amount to the Republicans if you are truly independent? He says one thing, but he’s picked his side. He flip-flops, too. First he promises to support Elliot Cutler, then switches to Michaud as he sees that Cutler isn’t gaining support.

That’s not the first time he’s promised something and then switched. I remember how much grief Bush senior got from saying “read my lips, no new taxes” and then taxed. Sure, I wasn’t happy with that either, but the press gave AK a pass when he did that. He gave a campaign promise that he wouldn’t raise taxes but as gov. he supported raising the taxes on gas and cigarettes. Ironically, HE criticized the Maine people because they opposed it. As gov. he started with a budget SURPLUS of over $300 million, but after 8 years of his liberal tax and spend ways he left the office with a $1 billion SHORTFALL.

So what does Angus King, the supposed independent senator from Maine, say to Fox News anchors when they ask him about the ObamaCare architect calling the American people stupid and the need to pass the plan without transparency because it would fail otherwise? He gets mad, evades the question, and then lobs personal attacks against the news anchors calling them “cruel”. Typical Progressive tactics.

We Need Better Christians

bible-1031288_960_720I recently watched a sermon on YouTube by Dr. Johnny Pope entitled, “Bring America Back to God”. In it he said, “We don’t need better Democrats, we don’t need better Republicans, what we need are better Christians!”

He’s so right.

This was once a Christian nation. The Republic form of government given to us by our Founding Fathers was built by Godly men. Even the “Deists” like Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin were more Christian than many so-called Christians today.

This is no longer a Christian nation. Isn’t that what Obama said at the beginning of his first term? So far, that is the only thing I agree with him on.

It is becoming fashionable to hate on Christians. Can’t say anything negative about Muslims, Hindus, atheists, or anyone else, but Christians…well, we’re fair game. I’m not complaining. I know why this is happening. I’m just pointing it out.

Twenty years ago it was inconceivable that gay marriage would be legalized. Swear words once censored from TV are now common. Commercials that would have been categorized as porn twenty years ago are now playing every day. Video games, now played by young people, have extreme, realistic violence. We are bombarded every day by hedonistic themes on TV, computers, books, magazines, and music. And anyone who dares to speak out against the filth is immediately decried as a judgmental, holier-than-thou prig.

Today, if someone announces that they are gay, or changing their gender, the world applauds them and calls them “heroic”. But if someone says that they are saving themselves for marriage…they are looked at as though they are a two-headed goat.

I don’t know where exactly we started to slip away from being a Christian nation. Maybe when prayer was taken out of public schools? Maybe when Roe vs. Wade legalized abortions? Those definitely had a major part. We Christians were definitely asleep then.

A recurring theme I heard as a child was that Christians don’t get involved in politics because politics is dirty. You have to sell your soul to the devil in order to get things done in politics. Oh, I was definitely taught that I had a responsibility to vote. But what’s the point of voting if I’m only sending someone to represent me who is just going to sell their soul to the devil?

Christians are responsible for Roe vs. Wade. Christians are responsible for prayer being removed from public schools. Christians are even responsible for gay marriage being legalized. What? How is that possible, you ask? Because we have too long kept our “salt” and “light” out of the arena of politics. We also have come to be tolerant and accepting of sin.

Why don’t we have revivals anymore like in the days of John Wesley and George Whitefield? Or like in the days of Charles Finney, Dwight Moody, Billy Sunday? Where are the Spiritual Awakenings like in the days of Jonathan Edwards? Where are the people on Sunday morning church services? Why is football and basketball more important than being obedient to God? Why do Christians think that the Super Bowl is more important than worshiping the Lord? Why do Christian parents permit their children to play sports on the Lord’s Day instead of having them in Church learning about God and serving Him? When did church services become necessary to be entertaining?  When did it become all about “me, me, me, I want to be entertained and feel good when I leave church”? Why are we not weeping for the sins of this nation? Why are we not on our knees before the Lord humbling ourselves, praying, seeking His face, and turning from our wicked ways? (2 Chronicles 7:14) Only then will the Lord hear us, forgive us, and heal the land.

The Progressives (communists, socialists, fascists, etc.) are always trying to create a “perfect” utopia. But they leave God out of the equation. The better they try to make it the worse this world is.

Only God can heal this sick world. And He’s looking for better Christians who will “stand in the gap” and share His message of true hope and redemption.

Merry Christmas

No political opinions for me this Christmas season. This is a time where it is wonderful to concentrate on spending that special time with family and friends. Treasure that. May you have a blessed Christmas season and remember the Reason for the Season.

Thank You for Re-Electing President Obama

I have to admit that I was cautious in my hope that President Obama would be a one-term president. Deep down I was concerned over the lack of enthusiasm and support among Republicans for Mitt Romney. Some based their hesitancy over his past record as a moderate governor of a liberal state.

Others were concerned about his religion and were unrealistically fearful that he would impose his beliefs on all of America. Never mind the fact that he did not do so as governor of Massachusetts. The irony is that President Obama is imposing his ideology, which is also his religion, on all of America.

Still, others were concerned because he is a rich, white male who seemingly did not connect with middle class and poor people. So he might not make you feel warm and fuzzy. So what? Do you prefer warm and fuzzy feelings to having a job and adequate income?

51% of Americans answered in the affirmative to that question.

So President Obama won and I have to give credit where credit is due. Thank you, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, and any other news networks that campaigned for President Obama’s re-election. I hope he sent you at least a thank you note because you earned it. True journalism has ceased to exist on your networks. Your propaganda machines would make Joseph Goebbels proud.

A big thank you should go to all of the history revisionists. Thanks to you our school children are no longer taught early American history and our Founding Fathers as it truly was. Our school children can name Lady Gaga or the most recent winner of American Idol, but can’t tell you who George Washington was. If you don’t believe me watch Jay Leno on the streets asking basic American trivia that any citizen ought to know. They aren’t goofing off for the camera, they truly do not know!

Many people seemed to be content in ignoring the old adage, “Those who fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it”. We have forgotten men like Benjamin Franklin who wisely said, “This will be the best security for maintaining our liberties. A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins.”

Thank you to the approximately three million Republicans who stayed home on Election Day.

Thank you to the Democrats who do not like President Obama’s policies but voted party lines out of duty rather than principle.

Thank you to all of the people who voted for President Obama so that they can continue getting their “free” phones and “Obama money”. Have you considered what happens after the working people can no longer afford to pay for your “free” ride? We are already buckling under the dead weight.

Again we need leaders and educators with this wisdom, “I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. –I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I travelled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.” (Benjamin Franklin, The London Chronicle, November 29, 1776)

Franklin also warned, “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”

Perhaps therein lies the problem. President Obama pointed it out early in his first term, we are no longer a Christian nation. As a nation we call evil good and good evil. We have passed gay marriage in several states. Babies are murdered every day and it’s excused as “women’s choice”. Depraved gunmen walk into schools and shoot children and people blame the tool. The Ten Commandments is removed from our schools and courthouses. We try murderers in courtrooms but we can’t have a reminder that they are not supposed to murder. Teachers are not allowed to pray in school nor read the Bible to their students. Children are encouraged to learn “safe sex”, but are ridiculed for abstinence. National and state leaders lie and cheat and still get re-elected. The state of this nation is a reflection of its people.

How long will God’s mercy endure?

2 Chronicles 7:14 “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Remembrance Day

In the United States we refer to the day as Veteran’s Day. My Canadian friends call it Remembrance Day. Although World War I was officially ended on June 28, 1919 with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, the war formally ended “at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month” in 1918. Thus, Remembrance Day is observed on November 11th.

English: John McCrae Français : John McCrae

English: John McCrae Français : John McCrae (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The red poppy used as the symbol of remembrance is due to the poem written by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD, of the Canadian Army. McCrae had been a doctor for years and had served in the South African Boer War, but he was unprepared for the suffering he would see on the European battlefields.

After the second Battle of Ypres in the Flanders part of Belgium, he spent seventeen days treating wounded Canadian, English, French, and even German soldiers. The Canadians had held their ground as the Germans leveled chlorine gas attacks at them. They suffered over 5,000 casualties. Later he wrote of it, “I wish I could embody on paper some of the varied sensations of that seventeen days… Seventeen days of Hades! At the end of the first day if anyone had told us we had to spend seventeen days there, we would have folded our hands and said it could not have been done.”

One death in particular affected McCrae. His friend, Lt. Alexis Helmer of Ottawa, was killed by a shell burst on May 2, 1915. Since no chaplain was available McCrae led the funeral ceremony of his friend.

The next day McCrae wrote the poem that would become famous. One observer said of McCrae, “His face was very tired but calm as he wrote. He looked around from time to time, his eyes straying to Helmer’s grave. The poem was exactly an exact description of the scene in front of us both. He used the word blow in that line because the poppies actually were being blown that morning by a gentle east wind. It never occurred to me at that time that it would ever be published. It seemed to me just an exact description of the scene.”

McCrae was not satisfied with his poem and actually threw it away, but a fellow officer rescued it and sent it in to newspapers in England. After one newspaper, The Spectator, rejected it, the poem was then published by Punch on December 8, 1915.

Sadly, while commanding No. 3 Canadian General Hospital at Boulogne, Lt. Col. John McCrae died of pneumonia on January 28, 1918. In remembrance:

Big Government Vs. Good Citizens

Evidently FEMA did not learn from Hurricane Katrina. They faced criticism from victims of Katrina when FEMA was not quick to respond and provide relief. Now we see them failing the victims of Hurricane Sandy. There are people in New York and New Jersey that are still without food, water, gasoline, and shelter. FEMA had plenty of time and notice to be prepared to step in and immediately provide relief. It’s their job. It’s why the organization was formed. But once again, a government agency is proving to be a let-down.

Three days after the storm stacks of bottled water and pre-packaged meals were still sitting in FEMA’s warehouse in Atlanta, Georgia. When the supplies finally arrived Tuesday at the advance staging location in Lakehurst, New Jersey, they were not immediately made available for local distribution. By Thursday many residents on the New Jersey shore received bottled water, but not from FEMA. Nestle’s America provided half a million units of bottled water by their own initiative.

Since FEMA knew that the storm was going to hit and they knew the projected magnitude, why didn’t they have the supplies waiting at their advance staging locations? Not only is that common sense, but it is also FEMA’s policy. If they had followed their policy they could have had these supplies distributed to the hardest hit areas within 24 hours of the hurricane hitting.

Many residents of New York and New Jersey are understandably upset and view themselves as being neglected by the government that they were trusting to take care of them. Indeed, many victims of the storm are saying that President Obama’s response to Hurricane Sandy is worse than President Bush’s to Hurricane Katrina.

Former New York City Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, weighed in with his take of the situation, “It’s quite obvious they didn’t pre-plan for water, they didn’t pre-plan for the generators, they didn’t pre-plan for the gasoline…The president getting all this credit so early, maybe the first day or two he was paying attention, but the minute he got his credit, the minute he got his pat on his back, we had the same situation as we had in Banghazi. He loses focus. He goes back to being campaigner-in-chief rather than commander-in-chief.”

When Mayor Bloomberg finally called off the New York City Marathon, the generators and other assets were to be used in the disaster relief. Instead, many of the generators sat in a parking lot less than two miles away from some of the hardest hit areas.

Not only has FEMA failed to respond immediately to the needs of the storm victims, but Mayor Bloomberg has refused to send in the National Guard to Brooklyn.

Marty Markowitz, the Brooklyn Borough President, had requested the help of the National Guard because he believes that “the sight of an armed soldier would deter criminal activity in the still-inaccessible evacuation zones – such as the rash of break-ins that took place in Coney Island”.

Bloomberg refused the request because national guardsmen would have guns. “We don’t need it,” said anti-Second Amendment Bloomberg. “The NYPD is the only people we want on the street with guns.”

Markowitz claimed that the NYPD and FDNY are “brave – but overwhelmed”.

Besides doing their regular job they are also dealing with flooding, power outages, and looting.

“All of our resources have been stretched to the limit,” said Markowitz. “In the name of public safety we need to send more National Guard personnel into Coney Island, Manhattan Beach, Gerritsen Beach, Red Hook, and any other locations.”

Contrast the government’s response to the response of caring citizens. In Milford, Connecticut, it was reported that the Mormon Helping Hands volunteers were helping residents gather up the debris. One resident said, “If anyone wonders how people will survive without big government, they need look no further than our beach in Milford. The residents put their heads down and worked, and the Mormon Helping Hands volunteers chipped in big time.”

Pastor Ken Graves of Orrington, Maine’s Calvary Chapel has organized church members to also go down to the New York-New Jersey areas to help people. They showed the same caring and teamwork after Katrina in 2005. There are other Maine organizations and privately-owned businesses that are sending volunteers down to the areas that need help.

What this nation needs is more Good Samaritans, neighbors helping neighbors, not big government.

Heroes Don’t “Stand Down” from a Fight

We Americans have become desensitized to the point that there is no outrage among the general populace over the deaths of four Americans during Benghazi-Gate. Perhaps I shouldn’t be shocked over that, certainly dismayed, but not shocked. People can’t be outraged over an incident about which they know little to nothing.

In spite of the political talk on the news and talk shows, the TV and radio ads, blogs, newspaper editorials, lawn signs, mailers, and Facebook posts, by-and-large Americans are ignorant of President Obama’s failed leadership. We can mostly thank the mainstream media. They are eager to shield President Obama and his administration from any criticism.

Even Jay Leno made a joke regarding the media’s bias in favor of Obama. Leno joked, “Here is a very inexpensive costume idea. Wear a re-elect Obama button and go out as a journalist.”

Unfortunately it is not funny how they have shielded him over the now bankrupt energy companies, like Solyndra, that he subsidized with taxpayer money. They have protected him from criticism over sealing documents to help protect his buddy, Attorney General Eric Holder. Under his watch the ATF sold guns to the Mexican drug cartels who then turned around and used them to kill Americans. Fast and Furious in this case is not a movie reference.

Even though I was a little girl at the time, I remember the Iran-Contra Affair because it was on the news all of the time. I could’ve recognized Lt. Col. Oliver North if I had passed him on the street. There has been controversy over whether or not President Reagan knew about the exchange of weapons for American hostages being held by the Iranians. Even if he hadn’t known and sanctioned it he still took responsibility and went before the American people to apologize. As our leader he didn’t pass the blame onto someone else. He didn’t send a U.N. representative to the morning talk show hosts and offer up some obscure person as the scapegoat. He was the leader. He took responsibility. That’s what good leaders do.

It has now come out, thanks to the reporting of good journalists at Fox News, that as it become evident that the U.S. consulate was under attack there was help only a mile away. There was a Navy SEAL team at the CIA annex. A couple of times they asked to go help rescue Americans at the consulate. Each time they were told to “stand down”.  At least two Navy SEALS did not stand down and they ran to help their fellow Americans. They helped rescue and evacuate the remaining Americans at the consulate. Sean Smith was already dead, and they couldn’t find the ambassador. The fighting lasted for about seven hours. In all that time, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, fought the terrorist forces. Repeated requests for backup were disregarded by the leaders that watched this from the White House Situation Room. All that the president had to do was give the command to send reinforcements.

There were two Special Forces groups at Sigonella, Italy, that could have flown to Benghazi in less than two hours. Sadly, instead of sending help the powers that be watched as Woods and Doherty were killed by a mortar shell at 4 a.m. Libyan time.

Evidently, the reason that the SEAL team was in Benghazi was to provide security for the CIA officers who were trying to track and repurchase weapons that had been given to the Libyan rebels to overthrow Qaddafi. There are more than 20,000 MANPADS missing. They are shoulder-held missiles capable of bringing down a commercial airplane. Not something that I would want in the hands of a militant jihadists! Now there are reports that these weapons are finding their way to Syria. If I was in Israel I would be worrying about where those weapons will wind up and how they will be used.

Of course President Obama and his administration continue to dodge giving clear answers to what they did or did not do. He has been asked point-blank if he denied the requests for help to those under attack by terrorists. And he has not given a yes-or-no answer to a yes-or-no question.

Are you outraged yet? Have you had enough? Reagan asked that question to the people in regards to Carter’s administration back in 1980. The American people respond by voting for Reagan. He won by a landslide. Carter was a terrible president, but Obama makes Carter look good.

I don’t believe that Mitt Romney will be another Reagan. There can only be one Reagan, and I miss him. But Mitt Romney has already proven to be a good leader. A man that would turn NYC upside down to search for a missing 13-year-old girl will act to protect and lead.

No Time for Apathy in Support of Marriage

Apathy has been a problem throughout history. Making no assumptions that readers know what apathy is (I thought everyone knew the definition of socialism until recently when someone told me it meant being social towards someone), apathy is a state of indifference.

According to Wikipedia “an apathetic individual has an absence of interest in or concern about emotional, social, spiritual, philosophical and/or physical life. In other words…you could care less.

Since I am definitely not apathetic, especially in the realm of politics and faith, I do not understand how people of faith can be apathetic.

Village Creek State Park south of Wynne, Arkan...

Village Creek State Park south of Wynne, Arkansas. trail of Tears (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

There are many examples of bystanders who exemplify apathy. The Trail of Tears was a result of greedy men wanting land that hinted of holding gold so they forcibly removed other men and their families from their homeland to move them west. The Cherokee suffered horribly as they were driven by soldiers through the winter trail, many of them dying because of being exposed to the harsh weather. Inexcusable.

Being a bystander can sometimes mean that you were an accomplice to evil.

At the Nuremberg trials the Nazi officers tried to avoid responsibility for their actions by claiming that they were “just following orders”. Inexcusable. While it may be possible that many Germans did not know about the atrocities being perpetrated in the concentration camps the villages near to the camps knew and they did nothing. They didn’t want to “get involved”.  Too few stood up to the Nazis. Too many were apathetic. Inexcusable.

The times that the KKK were actively persecuting blacks and Jews, even hanging them, and people did nothing to prevent the hateful actions…inexcusable.

This November 6th, Maine will be voting on Question 1: “Do you want to allow the State of Maine to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples?”

I’ve always noticed a trend of apathy among fellow Christians, but never so much as this year. Too many of them do not want to “get involved”.  Worse than that, if that’s possible, I’ve been reading more letters-to-the-editor from self-professing Christians who are stating that they believe that the Bible supports homosexuality and therefore supports same-sex marriage. That is an outright lie from Satan.

The Destruction Of Sodom And Gomorrah, a paint...

The Destruction Of Sodom And Gomorrah, a painting by John Martin (painter), died 1854, thus 100 years. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

If homosexuality was O.K. with God why did He send judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah? When the angels went to take Lot and his family out of there to escape the coming judgment, the men of the city came out and demanded that Lot send out his guest so that the men could rape them! When Lot’s pleas for them to stop this unnatural lust and leave his guests alone fell to deaf ears, he offered his virgin daughters for the men to rape! They turned down his offer and continued to demand Lot turn over his guests. The angels had to pull Lot back into the safety of the house and they struck the men with blindness. Even being blind they continued to search for the door to Lot’s house. As soon as Lot and his family were away from the city God obliterated Sodom and Gomorrah. In case you miss the point…that was not God’s stamp of approval on homosexuality, it was His stamp of judgment.

I have also heard people’s concerns about putting up lawn signs in favor of traditional marriage. These people fear retaliation from those who want same-sex marriage. People have expressed fear about putting the sticker on their car in case same-sex supporters keyed their car. Or they do not want the hassle of being labeled as “hatemongers”. I understand their concerns. Typically, I am not afraid to take a stand on issues that are important to me. This time, however, even I hesitated about putting a sticker on my car because of potential harassment.

Intimidation is a tactic that is used by same-sex marriage supporters. Businesses that have put up the sign for traditional marriage have been threatened. Treworgy Family Farm has been verbally attacked because they put a sign up. They did take the sign down because some of the people who would still support their business are afraid to come with their children because of the potential retaliation from some nut case. At least some of the leaders of Protect Marriage Maine have faced threats and harassment.

Make no mistake, the militant proponents of same-sex marriage do not just want to re-define marriage, and it’s not about equality, it’s about removing anyone from their path who disapproves of their lifestyle. If this passes in November eventually it will mean to you and me, “Either approve of us or keep your mouth shut”.

This is no time for apathy.

Obama’s Foreign Policy on Thin Ice

Harry S. Truman (1884 – 1972), 1945 – 1953 the...

Harry S. Truman (1884 – 1972), 1945 – 1953 the thirty-third President of the United States Deutsch: Harry S. Truman (1884–1972), 1945 bis 1953 33. Präsident der Vereinigten Staaten (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Are the days of the Harry Truman-type Democrat leadership “the buck stops here” over? If President Obama and Joe Biden are any indication then the answer is, yes.

During the VP debate Biden threw the intelligence community under the bus. I wish I could’ve been a fly on the wall in key homes to see their response.

I would hope that a sitting Vice President would not lie, and I’ll try to give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he just is clueless. Whichever the case, he was incorrect to say that no requests had been made to provide more security in Libya.

Eric Nordstrom, I guess now he is the former top security official in Libya, went on record saying that they did ask for more security and were denied. He had asked a regional director for twelve security agents. When I heard that I was surprised. Because of the 48 security incidents in Benghazi alone just from June 2011 to July 2012, I probably would’ve asked for 50!

The regional director’s response to Nordstrom was, “You are asking for the sun, moon, and the stars.”

I can’t blame Nordstrom for his frank reply, “…you know what makes most frustrating about this assignment? It is not the hardships, it is not the gunfire, it is not the threats. It is dealing and fighting against the people, programs, and personnel who are supposed to be supporting me. For me the Taliban is on the inside of the building.”

Further in his testimony, Nordstrom said, “…it was abundantly clear we were not going to get resources until the aftermath of an incident. And the question that we would ask is again, ‘How thin does the ice need to get until someone falls through?’”

Unfortunately, the answer turned out to be the deaths of four Americans, one of whom was an ambassador. It had been thirty years since we had lost an ambassador. This one should not have happened.

Charlene R. Lamb, a deputy assistant secretary for diplomatic security, admitted to lawmakers that she did refuse requests for more security. Notice that “requests” is plural.

Congressman Paul Ryan made a good point when he pointed out that the Paris Embassy had security, so why should Benghazi not have had sufficient security as well? Biden tried to shift the blame to Ryan declaring that Congress had voted to cut State Department spending. I guess Joe forgot that the Democrat controlled Senate hasn’t passed a budget in three years. The State Department received a boost when Obama first took office. And it is the State Department that decides how they will spend their budget. Not Paul Ryan. Incidentally, it is Hilary Clinton who is the head of the State Department. She has since come out and accepted the blame for the lack of security in Benghazi. I wonder what Obama promised her? Ultimately, Obama is the president and as such he is to blame for the lack of leadership.

Not only did our security personnel in Libya alert the State Department about the powder keg preparing to explode at any moment, but so did the Libyan leaders. Or they tried. No one listened. As a result, a well-armed and trained terrorist unit took out our Embassy.

Instead of admitting culpability, the Obama administration tries to pin the blame of the attack on an obscure YouTube video. It took them weeks to admit that it was a well-planned terrorist attack and our guys had been left without enough security.

It didn’t take FDR weeks or even days to acknowledge that Americans had been attacked.

The mainstream media initially ignored Benghazi-gate and focused for three days on Romney’s statement of the incident. He didn’t have to wait to admit that we had been attacked by Islamic terrorists. And if our president attended his daily security briefings maybe he would’ve gotten it right immediately.

Cover of "The Alamo"

Cover of The Alamo

As I was writing this a scene from John Wayne’s production of The Alamo came to mind. Sam Houston arrives at the Alamo and wants to talk to Jim Bowie, but Bowie is drunk and sleeping it off. So Houston immediately promotes Major Travis to Colonel. Houston charges Travis to keep Santa Anna’s army off his back so that he can shape up an army. Houston tells Travis that he personally dislikes him, but he tells Travis that he would trust him with the lives of his family if needed.

That is one of the highest compliments one could be paid.

I also want a leader I can trust with the lives of my loved ones. One I can trust with the present and future of America. I believe that man to be Mitt Romney.

Taliban Shoots Little Girls

English: Obama Taliban

English: Obama Taliban (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I am so thankful to have been born and raised in the U.S. A. In this country it is easy for a woman to receive an education. We enjoy freedoms that many in other countries only dream about. How many of us take our education and freedom for granted?

In the city of Mingora, Pakistan, a Taliban member walked up to a group of children who were waiting for a bus and shot two teenage girls. He was supposed to target only one of them.  When he asked one of the girls to point out 14-year-old Malala Yousufzai she did. Malala denied that it was she so he shot both girls. He shot Malala once in the head and once in the neck. The doctor reports that she will live. It has been reported that the other girl is in stable condition.

Why would this Taliban gunman target a 14-year-old girl? Last year Malala was nominated for the International Children’s Peace Prize. Malala is an outspoken activist who promotes education for girls. Something to which the Taliban strongly objects.  They spent two years destroying nearly 200 schools. Most of them were schools for girls, although, they also targeted some of the boys’ schools.

The Taliban spokesman, Ehsanullah Ehsan, told Reuters, “She was pro-West, she was speaking against Taliban and she was calling President Obama her idol (note to Obama, you like to think that you playing nice towards them will win you points…wrong). She was young, but she was promoting Western culture….”

In case you have forgotten or just didn’t know, the Taliban are strong promoters of Islam. These guys are known to throw acid on a woman’s face if they think she was stepped out-of-line.  They restrict women from going to the bazaar (same idea as our shopping malls), whip women they consider to be immoral, force men to grow beards, and behead any opponents. Oh, and in case you missed it, they also shoot little kids who just want to receive an education. How can any liberal think that you can make nice with these guys?

Yet, the liberals try.

Over 30 American anti-war activists have headed to Pakistan to protest the U.S. drone strikes. Many in the group are from Code Pink. For their bleeding heart anti-war efforts the Taliban is threatening to kill them by sending in suicide bombers.

The Punjabi Taliban issued this statement, “We ask the brave people of Waziristan not to side with the gang of Jews and Christians – otherwise their fate will be terrible.”

Code Pink wants to help these guys?

Despite it being in a copyrighted paper, the picture itself is an original United States Army work, as is indicated in the watermark in the source (cropped out here). CBS correspondent, Lara Logan recently spoke at the Better Government Association as the keynote speaker and warned that the Taliban and other Islamic operatives are as strong as ever. She said, “I chose this subject because, one, I can’t stand that there is a major lie being propagated (by the American government)…The lie is that the U.S. military has tamed the Taliban.”

She also stated, “There is this narrative coming out of Washington for the last two years. It is driven in part by ‘Taliban apologists’ who claim ‘they are just the poor moderate, gentler, kinder Taliban.’ It’s such nonsense!”

Lara Logan was one of the female correspondents to be brutally and repeatedly raped and beaten while trying to report about the fall of Egypt’s Mubarek and the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood. Some could argue that a woman should not have been in such a place where that could happen. But I would argue that men who tout morality and whip and sometimes stone women for being immoral should not rape women and shoot little girls.

Logan told the audience that she has researched many documents, interviewed the top U.S. commander in Afganistan, interviewed Afghan President Hamid Karzai and a Taliban commander trained by al-Qaida. From this she has learned that the Taliban and al-Qaida are teaming up and recruiting new terrorists to kill as many of us as they can.

The Sun Times reported that she made a passionate case that our government is downplaying the strength of our enemies in Pakistan and Afghanistan as a rationale of getting us out of the longest war. Logan went on to say that people have been duped into believing that the threat of radical Islam is merely a thing of the past, saying, “You’re not listening to what the people who are fighting you say about this fight. In your arrogance, you think you write the script.”

We need a strong leader. Obama is not that leader.

I do not want our men and women to be in harm’s way either, but I also don’t want the blood that has been spilled to be in vain. I also do not want our enemies bringing the fight to our shores.

The ones that killed our ambassador and three other Americans need to be brought to justice. The rest of the world needs to know that to kill Americans is unacceptable to us, and no one can do that to an American and get away with it.

One of my favorite movie scenes is from the 1987 movie The Untouchables:

Malone: You said you wanted to get Capone. Do you really wanna get him? You see what I’m saying is, what are you prepared to do?
Ness: Anything within the law.
Malone: And *then* what are you prepared to do? If you open the can on these worms you must be prepared to go all the way. Because they’re not gonna give up the fight, until one of you is dead.
Ness: I want to get Capone! I don’t know how to do it.
Malone: You wanna know how to get Capone? They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. *That’s* the *Chicago* way! And that’s how you get Capone. Now do you want to do that? Are you ready to do that? I’m offering you a deal. Do you want this deal?
Ness: I have sworn to capture this man with all legal powers at my disposal and I will do so.
Malone: Well, the Lord hates a coward.
[jabs Ness with his hand, and Ness shakes it]
Malone: Do you know what a blood oath is, Mr. Ness?
Ness: Yes.
Malone: Good, ’cause you just took one.

Simply substitute Taliban for Capone and that’s how you deal with the Taliban and other radical Muslims who believe they are fighting a jihad against us “infidels”.
